PhD, MA, BSc (Hons), Dip Theo, CELTA (TEFL)
Vice-Principal and Lecturer in Biblical Studies and Mission
Since joining the faculty in 2008 Tim has taught a range of Biblical modules and now focuses on the Bible and Mission, and Scripture Engagement streams of Redcliffe’s MA in Contemporary Missiology. Tim enjoys supervising a range of dissertation topics and teaching on the modules, ‘Reading the Bible Missionally’ and ‘Scripture Engagement: Approaches and Issues’.
Tim has an MA in Biblical Studies and completed his PhD in 2014. The title of his thesis was, ‘The Book of Job and the Mission of God: An Application of a Missional Hermeneutic to the Book of Job’, and he is currently revising it for publication with Wipf & Stock. He is a member of the Tyndale Fellowship.
Tim is active on social media and writes on three of Redcliffe’s blogs that reflect his passion for the application of rigorous research to the pressing needs of contemporary Church and mission:
The Bible and Mission initiative aims to serve the Church by engaging in research, teaching, writing and speaking on mission in the Bible, and the Bible in mission thinking, practice and training.
The Fostering, Adoption and the Church research project aims to motivate and resource the Church in addressing the crisis of vulnerable children in the UK and beyond.
The Redcliffe Research blog provides reflections, resources, information and encouragement for our students.
Brought up in a Christian family in Buckinghamshire, Tim made his faith 'his own' at the age of 17 at a missions convention in Holland. After studying Business Management at Aston University he spent four years doing student work; two years with the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) on the Relay programme in Birmingham and then two years in Siberia with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). He then returned to the UK and joined St Andrew's Bookshops in a marketing role.
Tim has been involved in and has led a number of short-term mission trips to Israel, Belgium, France, Israel, Ghana, Peru and Western Russia (with IFES, Love Russia, Operation Mobilisation (OM), Intercontinental Church Society (ICS) and church-based teams). He and his wife, Hannah, are members of their local Baptist Church. They also have two young children who keep them on their toes!
Outside of work, Tim loves films, sitcoms, sport, reading, catching up with friends and spending time with his family.
