This course is for those who have taken the Skills for Language Study track of the Assignment Related Training course and are now moving towards more involvement in a translation project. It is taught in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL International.
We recommend that you bring with you a laptop that is capable of running the latest version of SIL's FLEx software and a recent version of Microsoft Word.
Discourse and Phonology also forms part of the course content for the MA Field Linguistics.
The usual entry requirements for a Redcliffe College postgraduate level course apply.
By the end of the course, participants have acquired the ability to analyse and describe the typical features of narrative discourse in the language they are studying, using a functional approach.
Discourse and Phonology forms part of the PGDip stage of MA Field Linguistics, which runs from January to June. It can also be studied as a standalone module.
Discourse and Phonology runs from 29 April - 7 June 2019.
