MA (Literacy Programme Development), LL.B (Hons)
Lecturer in Literacy Programme Development
Matt is on the staff of the Centre for Linguistics, Translation and Literacy
(CLTL), teaching on a variety of MA Literacy Programme Development modules throughout the year.
Matt is a member of SIL International and works as part of the LEAD Asia
team, coordinating the facilitation of a community of practice for development practitioners in Asia. This learning community brings together practitioners working with minority ethnolinguistic communities to their share knowledge, experience and expertise and to support one another in their different areas of work.
Matt’s background is in Law and now lives in Gloucester with his wife, Liz, son, Levi, and daughter Anya. Although his focus is now on education and development, Matt is quick to point out that supporting marginalised communities to access their desired future without sacrificing their unique identity is very much a justice (and often legal) issue.
Given the chance, Matt prefers to focus his time on strategic thinking and planning, exploring creative solutions, and finding connections between diverse people and interests. Outside of work, he enjoys football, movies and food.
