Redcliffe appoint Rosalee Velloso Ewell as Principal

Rosalee Velloso Ewell is to join Redcliffe College as Principal this September.

Redcliffe College today announced that Dr C. Rosalee Velloso Ewell will be the next Principal, joining the College in September. Dr Velloso Ewell is currently Executive Director of the Theological Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), having previously served in roles at the South American Theological Seminary and as New Testament editor for Langham Partnership’s project Latin American Bible Commentary.

Having served as a Trustee for the past three years during a significant period of change and development for Redcliffe, Rosalee will be stepping down from the Board to join the staff team in leading the College into the future.

Rosalee was born and raised in Brazil, and is married to Sam, an American missionary working in Birmingham. Given that Redcliffe was founded 125 years ago this year to train women for cross-cultural work, Dr Velloso Ewell’s appointment resonates especially well with the College’s heritage, its heartbeat and its continued commitment to making high-level training accessible to those in mission and ministry, wherever they are.

Redcliffe’s current Principal, Rob Hay, steps down at the end of July to take up a new role within the Diocese of Leicester, and Rosalee is expected to take up leadership of the College in early September.

Bishop Martyn Snow, the Chair of Trustees for Redcliffe College, welcomed the appointment:

“I give thanks to God for calling Rosalee to this significant role. Redcliffe has been through some big changes in the last couple of years and Rosalee has been a part of that journey. Now she will lead Redcliffe as we deliver flexible mission training around the world. Her considerable reputation as an academic who is deeply committed to partnering with God in both local and global mission is a huge asset and I look forward to seeing how God uses her in this role.”

Rosalee spoke to us about joining the College in this short interview:
