An introductory course for beginners, followed by an intermediate level course to improve your grasp of Hebrew.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn the building blocks of the Hebrew alphabet, vocabulary and grammar – but weren’t sure where to start, then our Hebrew week is for you.
Through a variety of interactive activities, you’ll immerse yourself in a unique learning experience. The intensive week of teaching means that you are exposed to the language in a concentrated form and focused environment without other distractions.

If you have some knowledge of Biblical Hebrew, either from taking the beginners’ week or from a previous study, then the ‘Moving On’ week will help you revise and improve your skills. The week will focus on reading together through various Hebrew texts, combined with further grammar teaching.

is a member of Wycliffe UK, and the course leader for Redcliffe’s MA in Field Linguistics. Phil has been teaching Hebrew to Papua New Guinean Bible translators for more than ten years, developing courses to suit oral learners. He has degrees in maths and theology, and a PhD studying metaphors in Biblical Hebrew. Phil lives in Gloucester with his wife and two sons.
Biblical Hebrew for Beginners, and Moving on with Biblical Hebrew is delivered in consecutive weeks in the Summer.
The course begins at 9.00am on the Monday, and finishes around 5.00pm on the Friday.

We work from John Dobson’s Learn Biblical Hebrew during the Hebrew weeks, so students are required to bring a copy. The ISBN number is 9780801097423.

Redcliffe Court shared apartments are offered on a first-come first-served basis. This course includes refreshments, but students are free to cater for themselves during the days.
